Plot[]
At night, Logan breaks into the observatory, where he steals Lunia's hourglass and makes his way to the Cyber Realm in the Dream World, where "Lance" was waiting for him. When Logan shows him the hourglass however, he starts to become deranged, confusing Logan before he turns into the Nightmare King. Logan attempts to escape, only to be surrounded by Grimspawn before he tries to use the hourglass, which doesn't work, and his left hand turns blue, amusing the Nightmare King and Grimspawn before Susan knocks the hourglass out of his hand and they take him prisoner, ignoring his pleas that he has a soccer match tomorrow.
The following morning, at the track at Francis B. Wooley Middle School in the Waking World, Cooper tries calling Logan, only to get voicemail with Izzie voicing her concerns while Cooper is frustrated, believing Logan ditched them. As Mateo states the Dream Chasers will have to forfeit their Sheep Week soccer match against The Wolves, Izzie refuses and heads over to Coach Jeffries to ask for more time so they can find a substitute, but Jeffries refuses, until Izzie started to brag about something, unheard by the boys, makes him comply, with Mateo stating she scares him sometimes. While trying to find a replacement, which proved hopeless as most of their classmates were on other teams themselves, Izzie then comes up with the idea of using Z-Blob. However, Mateo refuses, not wanting him to be seen in public again. Cooper also agrees with the refusal, due to Z-Blob's being small and cannot take a soccer ball after demonstrating with one. Zoey soon arrives, handing Cooper's order before Mateo, slightly nervous, asks her to help the team, but she declines, until Mateo quips that she cannot fight the Night Hunter in Brooklyn, infuriating her and she takes off.
In the Grim Realm in the Dream World, Logan tries to wake up, but the Nightmare King tells him it is impossible in the Shadowkeep before he tries to use Lunia's hourglass to locate Castle Nocturnia, but due to being broken, it fails to work, annoying the Nightmare King, who destroys some Grimspawns in anger and reprimands the Night Hunter, who told him about the hourglass presumed capabilities.
The following morning, in the Waking World, Mrs. Castillo has Zoey deliver some orders around the stands as the Dream Chasers are still worried about their place and Logan being absent. As she passes by, Mateo approaches Zoey in order to apologize about the quip as well as admitting his dislike for Sheep Week, but she notices The Wolves bullying Cooper and Izzie, Dallas holding the latter's Bunchu keychain to get the Dream Chasers to forfeit before she stops them and approaches Jeffries with his order, also stating she'll substitute for Logan.
Logan, on the other hand, was taken to the Fear Works, where he tries to think of a way to escape before hearing noises and turned to see it was Sneak, who, after wrestling with Logan for his backpack, takes his hat and started to make fun of him, as well as call him "Stinkbrain". He then became curious about a bag of Chile Limón chips before Logan shows him, and they start eating them together. Meanwhile, the Nightmare King and Night Hunter try to find out how to convince the Sandman to fix the hourglass, but wouldn't do it for them, until the Nightmare King gets an idea and intends to use Logan, whom he believes is the weakest link, as well as manipulating his and Sneak's newfound friendship.
At the school, Dream Chasers and The Wolves begin their soccer match with The Wolves getting a 2 point lead, until Dallas tackles Zoey, giving the Dream Chasers a free kick. They make their first goal when Mateo makes chicken noises at The Wolves to distract them for Izzie to make the goal. Unfortunately, when Cooper managed to block the next shot, it backhands off Izzie and gives The Wolves another goal. Mateo manages to hold Dallas back until they both fall down for Izzie to go for another goal for the Dream Chasers before eventually managing another, leaving their score tied. With one more goal to go, both teams try to go for the ball, until Mateo, managing to escape a foul when a member of The Wolves was knocked over, makes the final goal, giving the Dream Chasers the victory. As they celebrate, Mateo was then lifted by Zoey, who realizes, while Cooper lifted Izzie.
Meanwhile, at the Nightmare King's castle, the Nightmare King tells Logan his plan, as well as discussing the latter's path. But Logan refuses to join his army and having no imagination. The Nightmare King soon deceives him, telling him his friends won't be coming for him, saying he is useless to them, and offers to help him give the ability to dream craft without an hourglass before forcing Logan to fight Sneak, or he will kill him as compensation. Logan tries his best to hold back against Sneak, until he suddenly transforms into a small blue creature, amusing everyone before the former can proclaim his defeat, Sneak, under the threat of being killed again, moves to attack Logan again, but is thrown over him before being thrashed about and then start to wrestle, until Logan manages to pin Sneak down and reclaims his hat. The Nightmare King then forces him to finish off Sneak, but Logan refuses, turns back to normal, and proclaims that he will find his own path before the Night Hunter takes him away.
As they continue celebrating their victory, the Dream Chasers plan on telling Logan about it, believing he is up at the Hamptons with mothers and Mateo comes up with finding him in a dream, using Mr. Oz's locator. However, when they head to their landing to find him, they head for the door leading to the Grim Realm and discover the Nightmare King is holding Logan.
