Synopsis[]
Detective Izzie takes the case of Mateo's missing comic book while Nova, the head of the Insomniacs, probes into a mystery of her own.
Netflix: Mateo's attempt to ask out his crush sets off a series of shenanigans. The Nightmare King finds a way to spy on the Waking World.
LEGO's YouTube Channel: Mateo lets Cooper read his comic book, but it quickly goes missing. Private investigator Izzie takes on the case but uncovers a new crime in the process! Meanwhile, Nova continues to explore the mystery of the dream world.
Extended: Mateo steps out of his comfort zone and allows Cooper to read his comic book, but he quickly regrets it when the comic goes missing. Izzie takes on the case as a Private Investigator, but when she digs a little too deep, she uncovers a new crime! Plot[]
Izzie watches a detective show on her tablet while Mateo is trying to find his latest comic book, until he finds Z-Blob reading it underneath his bed covers. After Izzie tells him to get over his fear of other people reading his comics, Mateo decides to give it to Cooper. The next morning, however, when he goes to give it back to him, Cooper discovers it is gone. When it doesn't turn up in his locker, Mateo starts to freak out before Izzie comes up with an idea and tells them to meet her at the library.
In the library, Logan meets up with Mateo and Cooper as Izzie soon entered, acting like a detective, complete with a gray fedora. Logan tries to offer his help as a sidekick, but Izzie refuses it, wanting to do it alone, causing him to come up with something he calls ‘front kick' and demonstrates, only to fall and knock his hat off as Zoey soon came in, having been called in by Izzie as well.
While they talk about the missing comic, Logan's hat started to move off by itself, due to Sneak, Snivel, and Susan fighting over who would hold the Nightmare King's staff in the Dream World, which is witnessed by Nova.
Izzie soon questions the other Dream Chasers over what they were up to since the previous day. Starting with Zoey, she explains that her cave's traps were all triggered, her stuff was all over the place, and there was a huge bone left behind, but nothing was taken. So, she slept in to tidy up, ended up missing her delivery shift for Mrs. Castillo, which she had to make up for by skipping her morning class. Her explanation made Mateo seemingly nervous.
Logan's hat soon started to move around the library from Sneak, Snivel, and Susan's petty wrestle for the staff in the Dream World, which leads to Nova trying to grab it.
When he was next, Cooper claimed he was at the Landing, working on his car when he got a call from Mateo on his Dreamy Screamy, saying he was in Pillows Peak, surrounded by Grimspawn. However, Izzie easily knows they were lying. They were in fact at Zoey's cave, because she and Logan were at Pillows Peak themselves, to Logan's embarrassment, dancing to K-Pop music with some Dreamling mushrooms. Disgusted upon learning Mateo and Cooper were responsible for trashing her cave, Zoey leaves, not wanting to hear the reason.
As Mateo believes the whole cave incident is irrelevant, Izzie says it leads up to the late delivery, which included ghost peppers to Mrs. Castillo. Turns out, they were by her food truck, where Cooper was reading the comic before Zoey showed up with a grocery bag for the late delivery and Mateo hid it behind his back from her before trying to put it in Cooper's backpack, but slipped it into the grocery bag in the confusion, and leaving Cooper's backpack smelling of ghost peppers. Upon learning the comic is with Mrs. Castillo, the Garcia siblings leave to retrieve it.
As they meet up with Mrs. Castillo, Mateo notices his comic on her shelf and learnt she read it, and liked it, saying it was one of a kind. To fill the void in the 'case', which was the trashing of Zoey's cave, Mateo confesses that he was solely responsible, Cooper only came to help him out of one of the many traps he set off. Mateo went to the cave to leave a note, asking Zoey to the upcoming Fall Festival and brought the bone in an attempt to occupy Zian if he was around. Mateo then intended to leave with the note, stating the timing was off, worried that she'll say no, but Cooper stated he is just nervous, just like how he is with his comic books. Unfortunately, as he continued his worries about asking Zoey and his comics, Mateo tripped an alarm, and so he and Cooper had to make a quick getaway on Z-Blob. Upon hearing it, Izzie decided to keep the reason a secret. Mateo then asks Mrs. Castillo to give his comic book to Zoey, but she insists that he do it himself.
With the school day over and the comic back in Mateo's hands, Nova, having finally grabbed Logan's hat, tries to show it off to everyone, but it does nothing as the Nightmare King already reclaimed his staff from Sneak, Snivel, and Susan, who become concerned over their actions. As Logan takes it back, Nova keeps rambling about his and the others' actions before opening Mateo's locker and spills out all his drawings of Z-Blob, Grimspawn, and Night Terrors. As Nova demands answers from him, Julie Putnam looks at them herself and believes Mateo was just drawing them as a submission for the Fall Festival theme, which he white lies about. When Julie takes them to be suggested, Mateo again becomes horrified at the thought of his drawings being seen and tries to stop her. When the Nightmare King hears it through the eye on Logan's hat, he comes up with an idea to use it to his advantage.

- Zoey mentioned that Dreamers often broke into her Landing to steal her stuff. This contradicts what she said in "The Anomaly," as she mentioned that Dreamers being able to go to other Landings is invite only.
- This episode was accidentally released on June 10th on PlutoTV despite the official release date being in August.
- Asa Tait referenced this episode on May 16th on Twitter, saying that Pillows Peak is the place to go if you want to practice your dance moves in private.[2]
