Join the Club is the second episode of the third season of DREAMZzz and the forty-second overall.
Synopsis[]
After an argument, Z-Blob refuses to follow Mateo back into the waking world, inspiring them to take two very different journeys of self-discovery.[1]
While spying on Dreamsmasher, Mateo takes Z-Blob for granted, causing Z-Blob to refuse to go back to the waking world. Now irked and on his own, Mateo tries to find a school club to join to prove he doesn’t need his friend. Meanwhile, Z-Blob goes on a pranking spree when he joins Sneak and Zian’s mischief-making crew. Unfortunately for them, mischief is exactly what Dreamsmasher seeks to destroy.[2]
Plot[]
In the Candy Realm, Mateo stalks Dreamsmasher, who does good deeds, to the point Z-Blob becomes annoyed and refuses to return to the Waking World, not noticing One and Zero passing by. At school, Izzie shows off plushies she had made based on Dreamsmasher, called Dream Amigos, which makes Jayden want it with Beau dropping Zoey off in Sputnik, to her embarrassment when he tells her to let her inner light shine.
The school is currently having a Club Day, where students can join a club, which the day is sponsored by Happy App, but it makes Logan weep when it reminds him of Astrid and Zoey tries to comfort him, only to make it worse by calling him not special. Mateo, feeling like he doesn't need Z-Blob, tries to find a club to join before Zoey tells him to address the situation instead of distracting himself, with Mateo telling her to focus on her inner light shine, mirroring Beau's advice before asking their opinion about a club he came across, but Cooper, Logan, and Zoey stop him from joining.
While in the Candy Realm, Z-Blob tries to join in on the various activities occurring, including trying to interact with a goth, but is turned down from each. Sneak soon came across him and learns about how Mateo would let the former have fun before Sneak invites him to him and Zian in creating mischief, such as throwing gumdrops at Jim, a marshmallow at the goth, and a large pizza slice at Emil.
Back in the Waking World, Izzie's Dream Amigos sell at a high rate that Mateo believes it is a pyramid scheme and worries about the repercussions it'll cause, but she blows it off and tells him to focus on his issues with Z-Blob, which he refuses. Joining up with the others, who express they are all going through something with Zoey dealing with her father, Logan dealing with heartbreak, and Cooper dealing with a need for peers with a similarly high IQ. Mateo applies for a club called This is Not a Club, This is a Band Club, which he discovers is run by Zoey, and is instantly rejected. Logan soon came in, hoping to be a backup vocalist before singing a song about Astrid, that eventually turns him into a weeping mess and instantly rejected. Mateo discovers Izzie is almost sold out on her Dream Amigos and has Nova as her accountant. Cooper and Logan had joined a club called Engineer Club, which only focuses on trains, this makes Logan weep once more.
Mateo then comes into Mr. Oz' class, where he has the Kids Who Love Science and Sports, but Not One or the Other Club, only to find him asleep and when awoken, the latter confesses the club was made up so that he'd be left alone and sleep, which Mateo learns is spending time with Albert, which Mr. Oz confesses he is actually trying to reconcile with him over Mr. Oz eating a banana. He then tells Mateo arguing with friends and family is completely normal and what truly matters is to resolve them, demonstrating with an immediate apology to Albert through the Dreamy Screamy. Inspired, Mateo intends to leave and fall asleep to reconcile with Z-Blob, only for the path to be blocked by Izzie being chased by students wanting more of her Dream Amigos, resulting in him going to sleep in the classroom.
As Z-Blob, Zian, and Sneak continue doing mischief, Sneak has Z-Blob swallow up a car, which turns the latter into a mass ball and started to roll down, absorbing everything in his path, including Jim. Mateo questions Zian and Sneak as they pursue Z-Blob, the latter expressing it as Mateo's fault as he jumps onto Zian, hoping to apologize to Z-Blob, which the latter accepts before they quickly stop Z-Blob from crashing into a birthday party, and an old woman and giant hamster by Dream Crafting large candy. Unfortunately, Z-Blob's mischief has brought the attention of Dreamsmasher, and they have Z-Blob return to normal by doing Blobby Spinjitzu, extracting everything he absorbed with the car striking Dreamsmasher, who strikes it aside and comes across the scene, where Mateo makes up a story, which Dreamsmasher seemingly believes while Zian and Sneak hide before leaving. While Z-Blob returns to the Waking World with Mateo and Zian flies away, Sneak comes across Snivel and Susan, who are suspicious about One and Zero, and invite Sneak to help them, which he accepts. One and Zero join up with their leader, who is the Dreamsmasher.
Back in the Waking World, as Mateo shows Z-Blob to his friends, who were unable to find their perfect clubs, Logan shows he got one of Izzie's Dream Amigos, Cooper was given a whistle, which makes Logan weep once more, Zoey states her inner light shines as a solo artist as Beau arrives and tries to be intimidating to everyone into donating for his daughter's debut EP, and Izzie is facing legal troubles.
