Irrational Treasure is the fourteenth episode of the second season of DREAMZzz and the thirty-fourth overall.
Synopsis[]
When the dream chasers discover the eye of confusion's location, it kicks off a treasure hunt with the Never Witch's doppelgangers in hot pursuit.
LEGO's YouTube Channel: Lunia hid the Eye of Confusion somewhere in dream Brooklyn. The dream chasers just need to follow the key and find it. Simple, right? WRONG. Dream Brooklyn is looking a little…strange, and Lunia hid that orb WELL. The best advice for them now? Think like a dream.[1]
Extended: Struggling with the emotional fallout of discovering her dad is the Night Hunter, Zoey doesn't have time for Cooper's attempts to bond, even though she can relate to his feelings of loneliness. The team follows clues for the Eye of Confusion to Bizarro Brooklyn but are met by their doppelgangers. It's a game of cat and mouse to find the Eye while something new lurks in the shadows.
Plot[]
Pyewacket watches traffic outside the window of Zoey's room as Zoey considers him lucky since she has got a case of tribulation going on, including if her friends will trust her again because of her father before leaving, where she stumbles upon Cooper, who invites her to walk along with him and she accepts.
Aboard, the Raven Raider, the Never Witch chastizes the doppelgangers for their failure to prevent the Dream Chasers from stealing the Spiral Key, which can lead her to the Eye of Confusion. MadTeo nervously pins the blame on the Bad Astrids, which the Never Witch already destroyed before trying to pin the blame on Dizzy, who reprimands the Never Witch for not going after the eye sooner and suggests the Dream Chasers may know, which MadTeo takes credit for by telling the Never Witch. Since Lunia took the eye, the Never Witch and provides the doppelgangers her ravens as well as make extra doppelgangers to follow the Dream Chasers and retrieve the key.
In the Double Realm, Izzie, Logan, and Astrid meet up with Mateo, Cooper, Zoey, and Z-Blob before Cooper shows off that he dreamcrafted some biofuel in the Space Car, which can give off colorful smoke. Mateo soon explains how he learnt from old records that the Spiral Key can lead them to the Eye of Confusion and must find it before the Never Witch does. They split up with Mateo and Izzie going in one direction, mainly for Izzie to talk about their father's upcoming birthday, which she had been planning with Jasmin, but it also breaks their usual tradition, Cooper taking to the air in the car, only to be blinded by a bright light and follows it, Logan and Astrid in another, but Astrid had to return to the Waking World due to her German timezone and Logan finds himself ambushed by four Bogan doppelgangers, who grow giant, and Zoey on her own, where she finds herself stalked by something.
A raven informs the doppelgangers of the Dream Chasers' location and flies off, defecating on MadTeo in the process before they split up. Zoey catches up with Logan, who they in turn catch up with Mateo and Izzie as they run from the giant Bogan doppelgangers. Cooper eventually finds the light and discovers it is part of a spiral of lights leading to the park before rescuing the others, Zoey's cape getting ripped off in the process, and returns to the park, where Z-Blob finds a keyhole on the merry go round before Cooper inserts the key in it and, after minor pondering, Mateo spins it, opening a secret passageway, which they all go through as Z-Blob managed to remove the key at the last minute before it closes up just as the doppelgangers arrive, having smelled Zoey's scent from her cape.
The passageway leads to the school library, where the computer transforms into a cabinet before Mateo starts to look through the cards, only to hear the doppelgangers about to close in. With no time, Mateo attempts to have Z-Blob swallow them all, but when they all return to the Waking World, only one had made it through. The card is revealed to be blank, but has some dots before they spin it, revealing a riddle: "True beauty is always behind and not in front of me. While I have a twin, I cannot see."
Meeting up with Cooper at Mrs. Castillo's food truck van, Mateo explains the riddle before the former suggests asking his brother, but Izzie declines as she will be with Jasmin, to Mateo's protest as he needs to solve the riddle, which Mrs. Castillo replies it is simply eyes. Slightly confused, Cooper believes they should try the school library in the Waking World.
At the library, Cooper, who is harassed by Dallas trying to offer him a scarf he knitted multiple copies of, discovers Logan asleep and spending time with Astrid, and Mateo and Izzie looking up books about eyes before finding Zoey at the computer and explains how everyone else has moved on while he is trying new stuff and the world moving on without them. Inspired, Zoey moves the computer to show a digital version of a spiral on the wall, meant to replicate the eye of the storm.
Returning to the library in the Double Realm, the Dream Chasers discover the doppelgangers have trashed it trying to look for clues and have fallen asleep afterwards before they start to gather all the cards, trying not to wake them up, only for Dizzy to wake everyone up when Izzie grabbed the last card from the former. Through a spiral of confusing doorways, the Dream Chasers eventually end up outside the observatory, where Mateo scatters all the cards in a spiral matter before it sends them all flying through the air to lead them straight to the Eye of Confusion, which the doppelgangers spot, only for them to stop by Mrs. Castillo's truck.
Showing the Spiral Key to her, Mrs. Castillo explains she had picked up many lost items and invites them to look for it while Cooper and Zoey keep an eye out for the doppelgangers and whatever is stalking Zoey, who considers herself nothing but trouble, but Cooper reassures her that everything changes before she in turn tells him to keep being friends with Logan. Eventually, they find a chest, which they use one of the cards and the key to unlock it, revealing a small pink orb.
When Izzie grabs it, her eyes suddenly glow and she suggests handing the eye to the Never Witch before the doppelgangers arrive, intending to swipe it, only for the creature stalking Zoey arrives, revealing to be Pyewacket, who soon turns into a motorbike, which he dreams of being, and rams the doppelgangers down. Zoey soon gets on him as Mateo swipes the eye and throws it to her, affecting her as she wants to spend time with Pyewacket, who immediately drives as the doppelgangers start to go after them with Mateo, Cooper, and Logan taking different measures to stop them while Izzie stays at the truck.
As Mateo managed to retrieve the eye from Zoey, he becomes affected as well and ends up crashing Z-Blob’s drone mode, losing the eye in the process, which Dizzy catches and gets affected as well before running off, coming across Izzie, who offers the former pickles if she hands her the eye. As they make the trade, Izzie becomes affected and Dizzy reverts to normal, leading to the two interacting before Doey seizes the eye, becoming affected in the process, and is deceived by Cooper to throw to him, but he ends up affected as well and sends the car spiralling out of control before MadTeo managed to seize the eye while Cooper was distracted by the rainbow biofuel smoke. As Logan came to check on his wellbeing, Cooper rebuffs him due to his friendship with Astrid before Logan reminds the former about his friendship with Mateo and that they all have each other's backs. Inspired, Cooper and Logan Dream Bash the Dream Car in croc mode before taking off for Mateo, who now had the eye before dropping it and Cooper catches it, using a helmet Logan took from the truck as a bucket so he doesn’t touch it. Suddenly, all the Dream Chasers and doppelgangers, including Mr. Hopper and the food truck, end up crashing into each other. As they recover, the doppelgangers recover the eye and take off, only to find it in Zoey's hands before Cooper puts it in the helmet and they all ponder what they had taken instead, as well as discovering Dizzy had been left behind, eating pickles.
Back aboard the Raven Raider, MadTeo hands over to the Never Witch the Spiral Key he ended up grabbing before nervously informing her the bad news about the Eye of Confusion, to her frustration.
