Plot[]
Jayden plays Nimbus Infinite in the Cyber Realm, proclaiming himself the king when he takes out some players, only for Burrzerker, now sporting the Nightmare King's eye, to ambush him, until he was soon surrounded by Grimspawn and the Nightmare King himself, causing him to immediately wake up, screaming in Mr. Oz's class, which the latter thought he was being frightened over a lesson. After class, Mateo, Cooper, and Logan express their concern for Jayden as well as several other students before Nova came over, handing out flyers for The Insomniacs, also expressing theories on their nightmares being caused by aliens, bad food or the Dream Chasers themselves, since Z-Blob was in some of their dreams. As Nova continued handing out flyers, Mr. Oz shows up, telling them as well as Izzie that they'll have to delay their search for the Sandman and have a meeting at their landing. However, when they wake up in it later that night, they discover it was now in a barrier, preventing them from entering any realms and giving them Grimspawn the perfect opportunity to capture more Dreamers, which later accounts for multiple absent students at school the following morning.
Coach Jeffries calls for an emergency assembly regarding the absentees and orders the present students to have counselling instead of health class, since he was unable to convince the principal to ban phones from the school. Worried about having to tell their dreams, Logan convinces the Dream Chasers to make them up. After school and the counsel session, they try to find out what was preventing them from leaving their Landing before tricking Zoey into coming to the observatory so that they can assign her to discover what was preventing them by checking out the other side of the door to the Grim Realm, since she can leave her Landing and convince her to take Z-Blob with her, despite Mateo's protests.
Later that night, Zoey and Z-Blob head for the Grim Realm, where they come across Albert, who can leave his Landing, even without Mr. Oz to give Zoey a Dreamy Screamy and help her find the cause of the barrier. As Zoey was against his offered assistance, Z-Blob prevents them from going in different directions to work together. Meanwhile, the made up dreams had led to some consequences for the Dream Chasers. José forbids Mateo and Izzie from going to bed and make them watch a TV show marathon so that they spend more time together, Cooper's mother locks him in his room so that he apparently doesn't run away, and Logan and his mothers move to a relative's apartment in Queens so that he is at a lower height. Meanwhile in the Dream World, Zoey and Albert start to argue about their direction until after confrontations with some vines made Zoey reasonable enough to take Albert's direction. Back at their house in the Waking World, Mateo and Izzie manage to go to sleep by altering a neighbour's order with a sleep inducing meal for José when it was provided to him and meet up with Cooper as he was trying to ram the barrier with his car, but fails.
Zoey, Z-Blob, and Albert eventually reach the other side of the door, where they discover a device that was preventing the Dream Chasers from leaving their Landing, just as the Night Hunter and Grimspawn surround them. While Z-Blob and Albert distract the Grimspawn, Zoey tries to remove the device, until the Night Hunter came across her and seemingly helps her by shooting at the device, severing a wire and opening the door. Just as they prepare to gang up on her, Albert sends Z-Blob to Zoey to save her and enter the Landing while sacrificing himself to be captured. As they inspect the device and wonder why the Night Hunter shot it, believing it was the Nightmare King's, Cooper discovers the device has the Night Bureau's symbol on it. Meanwhile, Celia Strick deceives Coach Jeffries in order to read the students' files on their dreams.
