(The episode begins in the Fantasy Realm, where the Dream Bandit flies through the sky on Zian)

Dream Bandit: Keep looking, Zian. The Night Hunter's around here somewhere. (Spots gathered nightmare creatures) There!

(They begin to swoop down. The Night Hunter approaches the nightmare creatures with Sneak, Snivel and Susan)

Night Hunter: Get those dreamers into the holds. We have a trap to set.

(Susan flies up to one of the Grimkeepers)

Susan: Hey, could you move any slower? Sheesh! You're slower than a turtle with crutches.

(Zian screeches, catching everyone's attention, then swoops down. The Dream Bandit jumps off him and lands with a grunt)

Dream Bandit: Not so fast, Grimspawn.

(She pulls out her bow and gestures to the Grimkeeper, which contains Cooper)

Dream Bandit: This one is mine.

(Sneak attempts to tackle the Dream Bandit, but she dodges. She grunts as she knocks Snivel away with her bow)

Snivel: Ow!

(The Grimkeeper attempts to grab the Dream Bandit, but she flips out of the way)

Cooper: Who are you?

(The Dream Bandit breathes heavily as she dodges and knocks away the Night Hunter's arrows. She climbs a tree and leaps off, shooting her own arrows back at him, which he dodges. She lands and attempts to shoot the lock on Cooper's Grimkeeper, but it holds and Cooper stumbles. The Grimspawn laugh)

Night Hunter: Yes, Dream Bandit. (Attacks her) Who are you?

(Zian flies through the sky, pursued by Grimspawn and unable to help. The Dream Bandit and Night Hunter push apart)

Night Hunter: And what do you want with my dreamers?

Dream Bandit: (Approaches, bow aimed) You'll never steal from them what you stole from me.

(She shoots a Grimspawn over her shoulder and reloads)

Dream Bandit: Not on my watch.

(The Dream Bandit gasps as Zian crashes to the ground nearby, swarmed by Grimspawn)

Snivel: Hey, boss, we got the beasty!

(The Dream Bandit shoves the Night Hunter to the ground and runs to Zian, smacking and shooting the Grimspawn before jumping on his back. Cooper watches the fight, gripping the cage bars. She turns back towards the Night Hunter with her bow aimed)

Dream Bandit: This is not over.

Night Hunter: Yes, I agree. (Whistles, summoning more Grimkeepers and Night Terrors from the forest) But what can one Dream Bandit do all alone against the full forces of the Nightmare King?

(The Dream Bandit considers briefly before flying off on Zian)

Cooper: No! Wait! (Reaches out) Get me outta here!

(The Dream Bandit and Zian fly away)

Night Hunter: (Laughs) Are you sure, dreamer? That one... (Sighs, amused) ...plays by its own rules. The Dream Bandit's plans for you could be even worse than mine.

(Title plays. Mateo and Izzie's bedroom window is shown)

Mateo: Pencil.

Izzie: Check.

Mateo: Bunchu.

Izzie: Check.

Mateo: (Picks up Z-Blob and puts him in his backpack) Z-Blob.

Izzie: And check.

(She grabs Mr. Sharkyjaw)

Mateo: Sharkyjaw?

Izzie: You get to bring your cuddle blob.

(Izzie puts Mr. Sharkyjaw in her backpack. Mateo zips his own)

Mateo: Ready?

Izzie: Ready.

(They leap into bed simultaneously)

Mateo: Okay, in our dream, Cooper was trapped in some sort of walking monster jail thing. Somehow, he got stuck in the dream, and now he can't wake up. We have to find him and save him. That's the plan.

Izzie: Find him. Save him. Seems a little basic, no?

Mateo: (Chuckles) Hey, I'm new at this.

Izzie: If Cooper can't wake up because of something that's going on in our dreams, does that mean we'll be in danger too?

Mateo: Hey, aren't you the one who always tells me not to overthink it?

(Mateo switches off his lamp and lays down to sleep. In the Dream World, Izzie leans over Mateo as he 'wakes', giggling)

Mateo: Ugh, even in your dreams, your breath smells like pickles.

(He sits up and looks around the landing, then lets Z-Blob out of his backpack. Z-Blob hops on his shoulder and he smiles, hopping out of bed)

Mateo: Okay, so far the plan is working. How do we know which door takes us to Cooper?

Izzie: It's a dream. Just imagine that wild forest where we saw him.

Mateo: (Sarcastically) Oh, right. I'm sure it's that easy.

(The ground shakes and the doors along the edge begin to jiggle until mushrooms sprout up around one and it swings open, revealing a portal)

Mateo: Whoa!

Izzie: See? It's a dream, Teo. It's easy.

(She jumps over his bed)

Izzie: You just have to let it be easy! (Runs through the portal) Whoo!

(Mateo approaches the door)

Mateo: Easy peasy. (Exhales sharply and smiles at Z-Blob) Let's be heroes, Z-Blob.

(He jumps through the portal, landing in the Fantasy Realm. Z-Blob arrives shortly after, landing on the back of his head)

Mateo: Ah! Okay, sidekick needs some work.

Izzie: (Backing up) Uh, Mateo.

(Mateo shouts out in fear, backing up with her. The Nightmare Galleon drives towards them rapidly, running over a Grimspawn in its path)

Night Hunter: We've been expecting you.

Izzie: What's the plan for this?

Mateo: Run!

(They start running as it chases them)

Izzie: That works!

(They run through the forest, hopping over rocks)

Mateo: (Breathing heavily) Sleeping... should not involve this much exercise.

Izzie: There! A village!

(They run into the Township of Quainton and the Nightmare Galleon stops outside. Dreamling Mushrooms scatter in fear)

Night Hunter: Block the exits! There'll be no escape for these two.

(The Dreamling Mushrooms run in panic, hiding in their homes as Grimspawn descend laughing)

Izzie: Aw, look at these cute little guys. We gotta help them!

Mateo: Izz, focus. We're here for Cooper.

Izzie: But look at their sweet little mushroom... (Shakes her head) Right. Cooper. Where is Cooper?

(The ground suddenly shakes and a Grimkeeper emerges from behind a house, approaching them. It attempts to grab a handful of Dreamling Mushrooms, but they pop out free)

Mateo: (Sees Cooper in the Grimkeeper) Uh, I think I found him.

Cooper: Mateo? (Pulls on the bars)

(The Grimkeeper roars)

Mateo: Coop, we're here to rescue you.

Cooper: Rescue me? Who's gonna rescue you?

(The Night Hunter arrives at the entrance with several Grimspawn including Susan, Sneak, and Snivel, the latter two laughing)

Mateo: I-I never thought laughter could be so... so... not funny?

(The Grimkeeper roars and Z-Blob hops into Mateo's backpack)

Night Hunter: So glad to see you. You have... something that I want.

Mateo: What do you mean?

Night Hunter: Oh... (Chuckles) ...use your imagination.

Mateo: You know what? I will. (Brandishes his pencil)

(The Night Hunter laughs)

Izzie: Ugh. We need a real weapon, not a metaphorical one.

Night Hunter: Bring the little artist to me.

(The Grimspawn laugh and run towards the siblings)

Izzie: Mateo!

(Mateo throws off the Grimspawn trying to grab one, accidentally flinging one into Izzie's face. Izzie shouts, stumbling into more Grimspawn as she tries to pull it off. Suddenly, Dream Sand begins to swirl around both of them, originating from Mateo's pencil. Izzie yells and throws off the Grimspawn, then notices the sand)

Izzie: Mateo, you're doing it again!

Mateo: Whoa.

(The pencil grows large in his hands and he shouts)

Mateo: Ah!

Sneak: Oh! Is he a...

Susan: He can't be.

Snivel: A dream crafter?

Night Hunter: Impossible. What are you waiting for? Get them!

(Mateo begins knocking away the Grimspawn horde with his enlarged pencil)

Mateo: I didn't know I could even fight like this. This is epic!

Izzie: Yeah!

(A Grimspawn knocks into her)

Izzie: Ah!

(She swings her backpack and jumps into the air, spinning away a Grimspawn, then begins to knock more away with her backpack)

Izzie: You'll never get me, suckers!

(A Grimspawn grabs her and begins flying her away)

Izzie: Mateo!

(The Grimspawn drops her briefly but catches her, laughing)

Mateo: Wait.

(He accidentally dream crafts his pencil too large, and it knocks him over)

Mateo: Yeah, I made it too big.

(Izzie screams as the Grimspawn flies her around. A Dreamling Mushroom takes notice and throws a small mushroom, knocking her out of the sky. She screams but catches herself on a roof, to her own surprise)

Susan: Incoming!

(The Grimspawn hits the ground)

Night Hunter: Argh! You imbecile!

(Mateo grunts, trying to lift his pencil. Izzie knocks away Grimspawn on the roof)

Izzie: Get away, you giggling turkeys. I'm warning you.

(Izzie jumps down from the roof, hitting Grimspawn)

Izzie: I watch a lot of anime and apparently I know what I'm doing.

(She pulls out Mr. Sharkyjaw from her backpack and does several fighting poses with him)

Izzie: Mateo, what do I do? How did you do the pencil thing?

Mateo: It's a dream, remember? It's easy if you let it be easy. (Grunts) Oh, yeah. And don't overthink it.

Izzie: Smart advice.

(She closes her eyes and Dream Sand swirls around Mr. Sharkyjaw)

Sneak: Aw, look at the cute little sharky.

(Mr. Sharkyjaw becomes a real shark and bites his paw, and he screams)

Sneak: Ohhh... oh, that's not good! He's got my arm. He's got my arm!

Mateo: I said not to overthink it.

Izzie: Go big or go home, right? Not so funny now, huh?

Snivel: (Laughing) Nah, it's still pretty funny.

(The Grimkeeper reaches for Mateo, who ducks, seeing his drawing on the ground)

Mateo: (Looks at Z-Blob) You ready for this, buddy?

(Z-Blob nods. Mateo grabs him and they both float into the air, surrounded by sand)

Mateo: Whoa!

(Z-Blob is Dream Crafted into his robot suit, and Mateo screams as he lands on his shoulder)

Mateo: It- it worked! (Fist bumps Z-Blob) Right on!

(Z-Blob runs forward, swatting Grimspawn and grappling with the Grimkeeper. Izzie and Mr. Sharkyjaw fight their own horde of Grimspawn)

Izzie: Yeah! You get extra cuddles tonight, Mr. Sharkyjaw.

Night Hunter: (To himself) Two dream crafters? (To the Grimspawn) Look alive!

(Izzie and Mr. Sharkyjaw save some Dreamling Mushrooms from Grimspawn. Mateo and Z-Blob continue battling the Grimkeeper)

Cooper: You call this a rescue?

Mateo: (Opens the cage) Would you rather we just, you know, go?

(The Grimkeeper slams the cage shut)

Cooper: Uhh, nope. Continue.

Mateo: Z-Blob! Duck!

(They avoid some Grimspawn and Z-Blob punches the Grimkeeper to the ground. Cooper swings out of the cage)

Mateo: Now, Z!

Night Hunter: Time to end all this. (Aims his crossbow)

Izzie: Look out!

(The Night Hunter's arrow shoots the Grimkeeper and it roars, flinging Cooper into Z-Blob, returning him to his small blob form)

Cooper: Dude. This is the weirdest dream I have ever had.

Mateo: You have no idea.

Night Hunter: Fall back!

Mateo: Come on! We have Cooper. We gotta get out of here.

(Mr. Sharkyjaw attacks the Grimkeeper, but is flung away)

Izzie: Mr. Sharkyjaw!

(Mr. Sharkyjaw lands on the Night Hunter's ship as a harmless plushie)

Izzie: Mr. Sharkyjaw! Mr. Sharkyjaw!

Night Hunter: Thanks for the present, brats. Let me show you what real Dream Crafting looks like.

(The Night Hunter begins Dream Crafting Mr. Sharkyjaw and his ship into the Nightmare Galleon)

Izzie: Run!

Night Hunter: After them!

Izzie: He turned my sweetie into a meanie.

Mateo: How'd you end up in the belly of that thing anyway?

Cooper: Dude, I was just havin' a nice, normal dream when that psycho and his big monster grabbed me. And there were other kids, too.

Izzie: What do we do now?

Cooper: I don't know. But if this is all a dream, can't we just wake up?

(The three skid to the edge of a cliff and yell. The Grimspawn laugh)

Night Hunter: His Darkness will be pleased. Three for the price of one.

Mr. Oz: Not so fast, Grimspawn.

(He Dream Crafts a cannon and disintegrates several)

Night Hunter: Ozzie!

Mateo: Mr. Oswald?

Mr. Oz: Of course. Who'd you expect, Mateo?

Mateo: I mean, not my science teacher.

Night Hunter: I shoulda known you'd be out here. Still tryin' to play hero.

(The kids climb into Mr. Oz's spacebus)

Mr. Oz: Now hurry! You're in way over your heads.

(The Night Hunter fires an arrow that misses)

Mr. Oz: Ha! Who's holding your leash now, Night Hunter?

Night Hunter: (Laughs) Oh, you know, an old friend of yours.

(He shoots an arrow, disintegrating the cannon. The spacebus begins to take off)

Night Hunter: Uh-uh-uh-uh. You're not goin' anywhere.

(The Nightmare Galleon drives off the cliff as the spacebus flies away, the Night Hunter and Grimspawn screaming)

Mr. Oz: (With an arrow in his chest) Quickly! (Groans) ...grab that desublimator. Use it on me.

(Mateo hesitates)

Mr. Oz: Today, Mateo!

(The Nightmare Galleon emerges with wings instead of wheels. Mateo sprays Mr. Oz with mist from the desublimator)

Izzie: You've got some explaining to do, Science Dude.

Mr. Oz: (Gasps, stumbling to the front of the bus) The Dream World is real! But it will be a nightmare if we don't get going! (To Albert) Just get these kids to safety.

Albert: I'm workin' on it!

Cooper: Um, did that monkey just talk?

Albert: Yes, I most certainly did. And I am a chimpanzee, thank you very much.

(The Nightmare Galleon snaps at the spacebus)

Albert: Whoa!

(Mr. Oz grunts then lands on his seat, mumbling indistinctively)

Mateo: Wait, how'd you make that gun back there?

Mr. Oz: It's called Dream Crafting.

Cooper: What is our science teacher doing in our dream?

Albert: My dear boy, if you think Sir Oswald is merely a science teacher...

Mr. Oz: I'm a Dream Chaser. An agent of the Night Bureau.

(Mateo falls into a seat)

Mateo: Whoa! (Buckles) The night what?

Mr. Oz: It's an organization that's kept the Dream World secret and the Waking World safe for centuries.

(The kids scream as the bus jostles)

Izzie: Um, can we maybe work on making the Dream World a little safer?

(The Nightmare King emerges from the storm on his pegasus)

Mateo: Mr. Oswald, what is that?

Albert: So, it is true.

Mr. Oz: The Nightmare King has returned. Hang on to somethin'!

(The Nightmare King summons Night Terrors)

Cooper: Can't we just wake up?

Mr. Oz: No, no, no! It's too dangerous to wake up. You don't know what you might bring back. You have to try to-

(A Night Terror bursts through the side of the bus)

Mateo: (Screams, waking up) Izzie!

Izzie: Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay. I'm awake.

(Izzie picks up Mr. Sharkyjaw, who is ripped in several places)

Izzie: Look what happened to him!

Mateo: (Simultaneously) What happened to him? (Pauses) Z-Blob!

(Mateo unzips his backpack, and Z-Blob jumps out onto his shoulder)

Mateo: Hey, buddy!

Izzie: Mateo, what about-?

Mateo: Cooper!

(They rush to the window)

Mateo: We've gotta go wake him up. (Yells) Cooper!

Izzie: Shh! Dude. Here.

(She hands him his phone. Mateo calls Cooper)

Izzie: A phone call? What is this, 1999?

Mateo: I'm trying to wake him up. Come on. Wake up.

(The call declines)

Mateo: Cooper?

(Cooper waves across the street)

Mateo: He says to come outside.

(They hurry down the stairs. Behind them, a Night Terror creeps along the wall, grunting)

Izzie: That was crazy, right?

Cooper: Okay, what was that?

Mateo: Did you see me fight those beasties? (Punches the air) It was pretty dope.

Cooper: And what about Mr. Oz? Why was our science teacher in our dream? (Looks around) This was all real, right? Like, I'm not goin' crazy?

Izzie: You've gotta show him.

Cooper: What?

(Mateo takes off his backpack, revealing Z-Blob inside)

Cooper: No... way!

Mateo: Yeah. I'd say it's pretty real.

Cooper: Dude. How did you do all that?

Mateo: Uh, still trying to figure that out.

Cooper: (Chuckling) Well, it worked. I-I guess all that drawing came in handy. Thanks, man.

Izzie: Is this what counts as an "I'm sorry"?

Mateo: Yeah.

Cooper: Me too.

Izzie: Hug it out?

(They glare at her)

Izzie: Too soon. Okay.

Mateo: What do you think the Nightmare King wants?

Cooper: He kept talkin' about... eh... needing more dreamers. Needing our imaginations.

(Logan suddenly pushes into Cooper from behind)

Cooper: Ah!

Logan: (Laughs) Who's the Nightmare King?

Mateo: (Sighs) What the heck is he doing here?

Cooper: I texted him. I wanted to let him know I'm okay.

Mateo: Right.

Cooper: Look, you're both my friends. Just get over it.

Logan: Okay, look, I am not hangin' out with someone who still has bad dreams.

Mateo: We're not talking about nightmares! You weren't there! You didn't see the things we saw.

Logan: It's time to grow up, Matty. There's no such thing as monsters under your bed, or the Boogeyman, or the... the... What is that?!

(The Night Terror stalks them)

Mateo: We brought it back?

(The Night Terror shrieks and grabs Mateo's backpack, lifting him into the air)

Mateo: Ah!

Izzie: Mateo!

Mateo: Ah! (Screams)

(Everyone but Logan chases the Night Terror)

Cooper: Are you comin' or what?

(Logan follows)

Mateo: (Screaming) Let go!

(A bus appears in front of them)

Mateo: Nevermind don't let go! (Yelps as they pass over the bus) Ah! (Screams) Hang on, Z-Blob!

(The Night Terror rises into the light of the sunrise, then falls as it starts burning up)

Mateo: (Screams, grunting as he tumbles to the ground) Light. Light hurts it.

(The alley light flickers out)

Cooper: Teo!

Mateo: Shh! It's in here somewhere.

(The Night Terror leaps out, reaching for Mateo's backpack. Mateo grabs its wing to hold it back, grunting with effort)

(The hourglass rolls out of Mateo's backpack. The rest of the kids throw trash at the Night Terror, making it screech)

Mateo: Light! We need light!

(Cooper smacks the Night Terror in the head with a plank)

Logan: Come on, dude. Yes! (Punches a junction box) Ow!

(The light flickers back on. The Night Terror screeches, then dissipates)

Logan: S-someone wanna tell me what the heck that was?

Mr. Oz: Yes, I do. That was a very bad dream.

Cooper: (Overlapping) What is going on?

Mateo: (Overlapping) Will it come back?

Izzie: (Overlapping) Are there more of them?

Mr. Oz: Hey, hey, hey. One at a time. One at a time.

(The kids raise their hands)

Mr. Oz: Alright, alright. Much better. Now, Mateo.

Mateo: Why does the Nightmare King need our imaginations? And how were we able to do that awesome Dream Crafting thing?

Mr. Oz: He's a bad dream gone worse, and I thought we defeated him a long time ago. If the Night Bureau doesn't put a stop to him again, he'll turn everyone's dreams into nightmares. (Gasps) And I bet dollars to doughnuts it has somethin' to do with this. (pulls out the hourglass Mateo had in his backpack) Lunia's hourglass. She was the most powerful Dream Crafter in all the realms.

Mateo: I forgot that was in there. What is-

(Mateo suddenly stumbles back in pain, clutching his wrist)

Mateo: No! (Grunts)

(Black substance begins spreading across Mateo's hand)

Mateo: Mr. Oswald. What's happening?

Mr. Oz: Oh! Did the Night Terror touch you?

Cooper: If Mateo hadn't grabbed it, it would've attacked us.

Izzie: Can you fix it? I mean, you fixed your shoulder in the Dream World.

Mr. Oz: This ain't the Dream World. Mateo, you need to come with me. The rest of you need to go on home.

Izzie: Fat chance! I am not leaving my brother.

Cooper: Yeah. Where Mateo goes, we all go. Right, Logan?

Logan: What? Oh, yeah. Right, right.

Mr. Oz: Oh, for... (Sighs) Help me get him into my car. We don't have any time to lose.

Logan: (Chuckles) Nice grocery-getter.

Cooper: This is the car a secret agent drives?

Mr. Oz: No. This is the car a middle school science teacher drives. Don't let him fall asleep.

Izzie: Mateo! Mateo!

Cooper: The old observatory? What are we doing here?

Logan: Yo! I thought we were goin' to a hospital?

Mr. Oz: A hospital does not have the gear we need. Just hang in there, Mateo. (Echoing) Mateo? Mateo? Stay with us. Come on.

Izzie: Hang on, Mateo.

(Mateo wakes up to Z-Blob nuzzling him)

Mateo: Ah! (Breathes heavily as he sits up, then pets Z-Blob)

Mr. Oz: How ya feelin'?

Mateo: (Groans) Okay, I guess. What happened?

Mr. Oz: Hm. You got lucky the Edison Ray was charged up. So, uh, let's avoid touching Night Terrors from now on.

Mateo: Edison Ray? Where are the others, Mr. Oswald? Where am I?

Mr. Oz: Welcome to the Night Bureau. No one outside the Bureau has ever seen this. Izzie told me what happened in that village. You both have abilities that few people possess.

Mateo: Whatever happened back there, it was... amazing. I thought I was basic. A nobody.

Mr. Oz: But now you see that you and your friends can do incredible things.

Mateo: Well, yeah, but... I don't have a lot of friends.

Mr. Oz: Heh, well, I don't know about that. It's the quality of the friends, not the quantity. They insisted on stayin' 'til you came around.

Logan: And I brought soup.

Mr. Oz: You know what that looks like to me? Quality.

(Izzie hugs Mateo, lifting him)

Izzie: Don't ever come close to dying again.

Cooper: Mr. Oz says next time, we'll know how to handle a Night Terror.

Mateo: Next time?

Mr. Oz: Once you join the Night Bureau, and train to become a Dream Chaser.

Mateo: You want me to become a Dream Chaser?

Logan: Not just you, dork.

(Cooper holds up a Sheep Week form with everyone's signatures)

Cooper: I just figured if we're gonna be teammates in the Dream World, we should be teammates in the Waking World.

(Mateo takes the paper, smiling)

Izzie: (Squeals)

Mr. Oz: You'll need to unleash and control your creativity, and learn to Dream Craft. There are a lot of dreamers out there who need your help. Your training... starts tomorrow night.
